Are you and your colleagues up for a challenge? A real challenge? This event is not for the faint-hearted.

Beast of Ben is a points-based adventure challenge taking place over two nights and one day on 6-8th July 2022, culminating in a trophy for the team who wins. You’ll need a team of four people to take on zip-lining, abseiling, water crossing, navigation, hiking and problem solving. You'll have the chance to earn time advantages and bonus points before the event, and throughout, by taking part in additional trials and reaching fundraising milestones. This event is hosted by Aspire Adventure, an approved activity provider of Ben, and our team will assist you with fundraising hints and tips along the way.

The registration fee is £250 per person with a team fundraising target of £4,000 to raise by the end of July 2022.This covers the cost of your place, and the remainder goes directly to Ben, to support those in our automotive family who are struggling or in crisis.

Included in your registration fee is –

  • Tent in the tented village, based on twin sharing in a 4-person tent

When registering for this event you can choose to pay individually or collectively as a team. Please provide your team’s name during registration. We ask that one member of your team acts as the team leader, and they will be invited to attend zoom calls in the lead up to the event with Aspire Adventure to find out full details on the event. Ben's fundraising team will also be available through-out to provide any support with fundraising.

What are the dates of the events?

Where is the event taking place?

The event will take place in an incredibly atmospheric location just outside of Llanberis in North Wales.

What is the event?

Beast of Ben is a two-night, one day team adventure challenge culminating in a trophy for the team who wins. Arriving from 5pm on day one for registration, everyone will have access to their tents with a briefing at 8:30pm. The next morning, with staggered start times, the teams will embark on a series of adventure challenges taking them through water, over mountains, down the side of quarries and much more. This event is not only set to test your physical health but your mental strength too with some mental challenges thrown in for extra points! That evening, there will be a pub style quiz  and the next morning, over breakfast, the winners will be announced. Each team will be provided with a full itinerary of events in advance, including when meals are available. Departure from 10am on the final day.

Why should I take part?

This challenge will be INCREDIBLE! Adventure helps build self-esteem, improve self-worth, develop confidence and more. It’s great for physical and mental wellbeing and also fun. You’ll do things you never thought were possible and as a team you’ll make memories that will last forever. This adventure challenge is also a great way to raise much needed funds for Ben.

What is expected from me?

In advance there will be a couple of zoom calls to help get you all excited and ready. On the day, turn up with the kit we ask you to bring and have an adventurous attitude.

Why do we need a team leader?

A team leader helps bring the teams together in an effective way. We will be supplying key information to the TL in advance and asking them to attend zoom calls and then supply information to everyone in the team accordingly. Adventure is a great platform to help develop leadership and togetherness and we see this challenge as part of something that can help your organisations to be more effective moving forwards.

Which event provider will be delivering this event and do they have safety measures in place?

Aspire Adventures is a fully insured adventure challenge provider with extensive experience in delivering events just like this. They only use trusted, qualified, and competent staff who are specialists in their respective areas. Aspire Adventures have robust risk assessments, policies, and processes in place to ensure safety is at the very heart of everything they do.

What kit do I need to bring?

You’ll be supplied with a kit list in advance, most items will be standard items you would need for a hill walk and a few extra camping related items. Please note tents will be provided. You’ll also be given a 15% discount code for a Llanberis based outdoor shop for kit you need on the day or via their website in advance.

What facilities are provided?

Beast of Ben will have its own tented village and tents will be provided based on twin sharing. We will work with the Team Leaders in advance to ensure there is no mixed gender sharing where appropriate. Breakfast on both days, a packed lunch and dinner on both nights will be provided, plus there are toilet and shower facilities available on site.

Do I need to provide medical history in advance of the event?

Yes and this will be held confidentially by the Aspire Adventures team.

What if I don’t want to complete one of the challenges?

You don’t need to take part in every challenge if you don’t want to, this is a team event over multiple challenges. You may lose a couple of points, but you could make that up with swift movement over ground or during the evening quiz.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

We will have plan B options in the event of inclement weather otherwise the kit we ask you to bring will help protect you from the elements.

How fit do I need to be?

This isn’t a fitness event, it’s an adventure challenge event so it’s about being smart with movement. Some fitness is required because you will be asked to walk over hills but the good news is, you do have time to train!

Will you cater for dietary requirements?

We will cater for any dietary requirements shared in advance of the event.

What covid measures will be in place?

We will continue to monitor the government guidelines and the event will take place with any necessary measures put in place.

Will you have first aid available on site?

Yes, there will be a Doctor and a Search and Rescue Paramedic available to us. We also have direct relationships with the local rescue teams and they will be aware of what is happening.

Can I stay locally around the dates of the event?

Of course, there are lots of options and please use the village of Llanberis as the reference point.

What do points mean?

The 3rd, 2nd and 1st places are calculated based on points. Points are given to teams based on time taken, events completed, spot challenges, the pub quiz and more. Details on how to achieve as many points as possible will be provided in advance of the event.

What is the fundraising target?

The registration fee for this event is £250 per person, this cover the cost of your place. We then ask that you raise a minimum of £4000 per team, this money goes directly to Ben.

Can I park at the location?

Beast of Ben takes place in a remote location in North Wales, roughly 1.5km from the main town; there is ample parking available in the local town - which we will provide full details of in advance of the event. As an initial challenge we will be asking people to park and walk to the location to gain additional points before the challenge has even started! However you will have the option to book transport to the location and for your luggage to be collected so you can walk up.

What drinks will be provided?

Water, soft drinks and hot drinks will be provided throughout, we ask that people bring their own reusable water bottles. Please note that alcohol will not be provided at this event however you are welcome to bring your own and we will provide recycling facilities for all waste.
