John Blundell, Maintenance, Alexandra House

I have been working for BEN since 2008 and am really enjoying the work. I have worked in care centres before and like working with the residents and staff.

My job revolves around all the little and big things that need doing to maintain Alexandra House. This includes changing light bulbs, repairing leaks, painting and decorating the residents' rooms and generally brightening the place up. I also take our residents out in the car or minibus when they need to visit the dentist or have other appointments.

At the moment I am painting the porch in the entrance to improve the look. It is so rewarding to look back and say ‘I did that' and take pride in what I have done.

I would encourage anyone thinking of working at Alexandra House to come along and meet the friendly staff and residents. I love listening to our residents' wonderful stories and putting smiles on their faces for the work I do.
