Responsible to:  Lynwood Nursing Team and Head Nurse

Field of volunteering:

- Caring for older people and vulnerable adults.
- Socialising with residents.

Would suit:

- Someone wanting to make a direct difference to peoples' lives.
- Anyone who wants to do something worthwhile in their spare time.
- Anyone looking to learn new skills and experiences.
- People looking to develop confidence and communication skills.
- Anyone looking to gain experience in a caring, medical or charity environment.
- Someone who is looking for a long-term volunteering position.

General duties and responsibilities:

- To follow staffs' instructions regarding residents (e.g. helping residents to walk, tidy up etc.).
- Supporting residents: read to them, help to write their letters, discuss current affairs.
- Chat to residents.
- Help organise and participate in activities and games.
- Make tea/coffee and assist residents.

Applicant requirements:

- Empathetic, caring and understanding individual.
- Patient individual with good listening skills.
- Individuals will be CRB checked.
- Reliable and punctual individual.
- Willing to volunteer regularly over a long period of time.
- Must be willing to travel to the Residential Centres.

Volunteering hours:

- Flexible.

Training:

- On the role training and full time support will be provided.

Reimbursement of expenses:

- Travel expenses to and from Lynwood.
- Any agreed by the Matron.
