why volunteer?

Volunteers at the 2009 Motorcycle ShowBEN is a very unique charity and one of the reasons we stand out is thanks to the huge team of volunteers who support us.

Everyone has their own reasons for dedicating their time to helping others. It might be to gain work experience, or because you need a break from your usual routine, or simply to keep yourself occupied during retirement. Whatever the reason, all of our volunteers have one thing in common - a desire to make a difference and help those who turn to BEN in times of need.

individual volunteers

We have hundreds of volunteers who help us with a range of different tasks such as fundraising, office administration, therapy, transport, activities for our residents and awareness raising.

We also have various volunteering groups tailored for people at different stages of their lives and careers:

  • BENergy - for young people in the automotive industry
  • BEN Champions - for anyone currently working in our industries
  • BEN Her - for our industry ladies
  • BEN Friends - for people interested in social work and having direct contact with our beneficiaries

employee volunteering

Citroen at LynwoodCorporate social responsibility is high on the agenda, with many organisations contributing considerable amounts of time and money to their local community.

We are continuously creating opportunities for corporate volunteering teams across the country. Our beneficiaries have gained from various team volunteering projects at our care centres and from employee fundraising organised by our industry supporters.

why volunteer?

Volunteering has been shown to increase life satisfaction, self-esteem, a sense of control over life, happiness and physical health, as well as reduces depression (Thoits & Hewitt, 2001).

In short, volunteering makes you feel good because you know you are making others feel good!
