Our diversional therapy department provides activities during the day for residents, with Rummikub and Scrabble being among the favourite pastimes! They also organise a range of social outings and events for our residents, who are encouraged to participate and enjoy the facilities provided.
Our sheltered housing residents organise their own activities and have social evenings either at Town Thorns or at an outside venue, as well as a coffee morning once a week.
We have a committee of dedicated volunteers who are all part of the Town Thorns League of Friends. This committee is made up of residents, staff, residents' relatives and supporters of Town Thorns. They organise fundraising events throughout the year such as the summer fete, our pudding club evening and sponsored walks - all to raise funds for Town Thorns. These events are great fun and everyone is encouraged to participate.
We are also lucky to have many links with the local community. Local politicians and dignitaries visit the residents and attend some of our functions. The local school also visits regularly to spend time with our residents and entertain them with concerts and plays.
