BEN's Chief Executive David Main has been named as Automotive Management's Personality of the Year 2011.
The award was presented to David at the AM Awards in Birmingham on 16 February.
Jeremy Bennett, Editor of AM, said
"BEN's fortunes are tied inextricably to those of our industry and in the recession has been particularly hard hit with incomes falling at a rate that put at risk its fundamental goals. Upon taking the reins at BEN in 2009, David undertook a £1million cost cutting exercise which has seen the charity through the hard times, while also ensuring that BEN's high standards of care are not compromised. Through his and his team's unstinting efforts and innovative thinking in the last 12 months David has secured his organisation's future, while all the time ensuring it has the profile it needs and deserves."
Joe Greenwell, President of BEN, added
"I am delighted to see the unwavering commitment and hard work of David and his team at BEN honoured in this manner. David's leadership has inspired his team to push forward with new ideas to create sustainable revenue streams, such as the Backing BEN initiatives, for the charity and also raise our profile among the people who most need our help and support."
