Dan Jones, from Braintree has taken on the challenge in order to raise money for BEN.
The 31 year old brought a Ford Escort Mark 4 last month and will now start repairing the vehicle before his departure on Friday September 2.
The trip begins with a drive from Braintree to Lille in northern France, where Dan will meet up with the other competitors in the race.
Prior to setting-off, Dan is hoping street artists will take on the challenge of decorating his car, as points are warded for the wackiest design.
