The government has published its Giving White Paper, identifying innovative new ways of facilitating charitable giving and encouraging volunteering.

BEN Chief Executive, David Main commented;

"This white paper goes a long way towards clarifying and simplifying the government's plans for a big society and the role of charities. This publication contains very positive news for BEN as it sets out plans to make charitable giving and volunteering as easy and compelling as possible and the promise of more government support to charities such as BEN.

"Of particular interest to BEN are plans to promote a culture of payroll giving within companies. This is one of our most consistent and valuable sources of income and the government promise of incentives for both individuals and the companies is immensely encouraging.

"We also look forward to taking part in the government's Giving Summit this autumn where business and charity leaders will seek out best practice and new innovations in facilitating giving to charity."
