Which? Will donate money to BEN for every new car launch they attend.
As they are an independent organisation, Which? cannot accept gifts including travel costs and hospitality. However, in order to get news to consumers quickly, they make an exception for new car launches. Manufacturers can not accept reimbursement.
Which? have therefore decided to donate money to charity in lieu of repaying the manufacturers. They will split their money 50/50 between BEN, the automotive industry charity and Climate Care.
Which?'s Senior Motoring Researcher, George Marshall-Thornhill said of the initiative;
"As a charity Which? tries hard to maintain its independence. That's why we give a donation to BEN and Climate Care for every new car launch we attend. Several of the Which? Cars team have worked in the motor industry and we understand the importance of BEN to our colleagues."
Charles Davis, BEN's Director of Fundraising and Communications said;
"This is a very generous gesture by Which? and will help BEN to provide care and support to those in the automotive and related industries who are facing difficulties in their lives. Donations such as this allow us to maintain the high standards of care our colleagues in the industry rely on."
