Manheim Bike Race Raises Money for BEN

The eighth annual Manheim Tour de France Bike Ride, featuring 25 Manheim employees and customers, has raised £3,000 for BEN, the automotive industry charity and the Intensive Care Unit at the Nottingham Queen's Medical Centre.

The team completed the gruelling 165 mile Auray to Brieuc leg of the famous course in just two days. Several customers joined the Manheim team including Chris Shambrook (Ford), Paul Owens (Helphire), Phil Bastow (Masterlease), Adrian McCarthy (RAC) and Paul Nash (Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles).

Organiser Dave Anthony, Manheim's Reconditioning Manager commented: "When I started the Bike Ride eight years ago there were just a handful of us. However it has now grown into a much larger event thanks to the support of Manheim and its customers. Next year the event will be even more challenging and hopefully we will raise even more money for worthwhile causes."

Charles Davis, Director of Fundraising and Communications at BEN, said: "This is an extremely strenuous event and a great accomplishment for each and every person who took part. On behalf of BEN, I'd like to say a huge thank you to the Manheim team for taking the time to train for this event and raise money to help us continue our work within the industry."
