BEN’s High Quality Care Delivery Achieves Recognition Beyond the Industry

BEN, the Automotive Industry Charity, has been awarded this year for its outstanding care delivery. The charity owns and runs five care centres across the UK, providing nursing, residential and day care provision. BEN's centres include Alexandra House, Arthur Wilson House, Birch Hill, Lynwood and Town Thorns.

Alexandra House based in Southport, Merseyside, recently received five stars for quality assurance and achieved a commendation for the Gold Star Framework End of Life Care. Out of 47 homes that applied for this accreditation, Alexandra House was one of only eight to achieve a commendation. Birch Hill in Northumberland also boasts retaining its Investors in People Status last month.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Partnerships for Care Awards took place in July this year, and saw BEN centres Town Thorns and Arthur Wilson House achieve recognition. The Town Thorns kitchen team won the ‘Better Ways of Working' category for their development of the 'liquidised and moulded' meal options for their residents. Arthur Wilson House, BEN's Day Care Centre in Coventry, also received recognition as finalists and runners up in the best 'Care Organisation' category for their ongoing commitment to training, displaying an example of positive team working.

Lynwood Nursing and Residential Centre, located in Sunninghill, Berkshire, has been awarded a quality rating of excellent service following an unannounced inspection by the Commission for Social Care (CSCI) last month. This is the highest rating that can be awarded to a registered care home. There are currently only three homes, including Lynwood, in the Windsor and Maidenhead Local Authority area that offer care for old age and dementia and have achieved excellent status.

Jenny Brown, BEN's Director of Care Services, commented, ‘I am delighted and very proud of the recognition we have received this year for the high quality of care provision in our residential and nursing centres. It is truly a tribute to our matrons and every single member of staff at the centres. We are always confident that we are providing high quality care, and this is reinforced every time we see how impressed visitors from the automotive industries are when they come and see first hand the work we do at our centres. However, achieving recognition from the care industry, especially experts in the care field, is particularly important as it reinforces our beliefs in providing only high quality care delivery.'
