Tom Mallens, Editor of Aftermarket magazine, along with colleague and Website Manager, Simon Gardner, took to the roads in October and began a 10 day journey from Land's End to John O'Groats visiting 100 workshops along the way with the aim of raising money and awareness of BEN, the Automotive Industry Charity.

During their journey the duo managed to build up a unique picture of their industry and the people working within it raising over £5,000 for BEN along the way. Tom and Simon reached John O'Groats, their final destination, at 4pm on 9 November commenting, "It seems like months since we were down at Land's End but we finally made it. We're a lot more tired and a little bit wiser than when we set off and, most importantly, BEN is over £5,000 better off. The trip really has been a reminder that the workshop sector's biggest asset is its people. It's great to know that BEN is there to support them. A big thank you to all the people and companies that have supported us and helped to prove what a strong, caring and pro-active community the automotive sector is."

Tom Mallens and Simon Gardner were delighted to present a cheque, for £5,031.14p, to Tony Sackett, Deputy President of BEN, at the ADF Annual Dinner earlier this month.
