Jim Stokes Workshops hosted an open evening and raised over £430 for BEN. The Gordon Keeble Owners Club and Bognor Regis Motor Club were the lucky beneficiaries of an amazing visit to the Jim Stokes Workshops in Waterlooville on Thursday 2nd August 2012.
The evening started with a welcome chat from Jim Stokes telling the thrilled visitors about the history of the business and how it has grown from a shed in his back garden to the current set up forty years later.
Jim Stokes is now the leading worldwide expert on all things historic Alfa Romeo and has travelled around the globe verifying and valuing some Italian exotica over the years. The very skilled team of engineers love their jobs and enjoyed giving the captivated "Petrolheads" some in depth knowledge of what they have done to recreate, restore and rebuild the various vehicles currently undergoing work, some worth several million pounds. The enthusiastic crowd of over 70 guests was able to view the engine building area, all the workshops and machine shop and the engineers were able to help out with problems and queries.
The visit was a real hit with all those who attended, a collection during the evening by Jim's grand-daughter Jessie raised £430 for our cause and one very close to Jim's heart.
"The evening appeared to be a great success, we are delighted to welcome such a great group of motoring and motorsport enthusiasts to our workshops and our own chaps enjoy passing on some of their extensive knowledge" Jim mentioned just before the crowd left after a two hour visit.
