The Lynwood Physiotherapy Clinic was established in 2008 and provides private physiotherapy treatment.  We are situated at Lynwood Care Centre.

what to expect on your first appointment

When you first come to us with as problem, we will take a medical ‘history' (any past illnesses and surgery you may have had and on-going conditions e.g. diabetes). It is helpful if you bring a list of medication you may be on and key dates of any illnesses or surgery you may have had. You will also receive treatment at the first appointment.

listening and assessing

As well as listening to your medical history we will ask about your current symptoms and assess you physically. This will vary according to the problem(s) needing treatment; for example a stroke patient would be assessed for balance, walking and transfers, as well as any specific joint problems such as a frozen shoulder. Joint problems, such as knee arthritis, will involve looking at range of movement, muscle strength and function.

It is important that we know your medical background so that everything we use to treat you is appropriate for you. This can take time and is why we allow at least 45 minutes for the first appointment.

honest opinion

If we do not feel we can help you, we will tell you. We will try and give you advice as to whom else you could approach or what else you could do. We may be able to do this over the phone at the enquiry stage. If we think that physiotherapy can help, we will explain the treatment plan to you and how many sessions you are likely to need. If at any stage you decide to discontinue physiotherapy, we will respect your wishes.
