the team
Our team is made up of four part-time chartered Physiotherapists, offering a variety of clinical skills and many years experience of physiotherapy practice. They each specialise and have extensive knowledge in caring for older people.
We also have a Physiotherapy Assistant to assist with treatment programmes, massage and palliative care, as well as two Acitivities Co-ordinators. Meet the therapy team.
activities and events
Residents here at Lynwood enjoy a full and varied programme of events including art, quizzes, current events, word games, themed events, parties, concerts, entertainment, fashion shows, exercise groups, ball games and clubs.
Most of these activities take place in the bright and spacious Garden Room, however, we also provide creative therapy in residents' own rooms. In addition, we arrange regular outings to national, local and commercial attractions. View photos of some of our activities.
therapy
The main department houses a large gym with comprehensive facilities including electrotherapy, free exercise and resistance equipment, specialist plinths, private treatment areas and space for activities.
Our Physiotherapists will help you by using physical treatments such as movement, exercise classes, falls management and prevention, massage and electrotherapy to reduce pain and promote function and independence. View photos of the therapy department.
what to expect on your first visit
When you first visit the therapy department you will be introduced to the staff and other residents. You will be asked about whether you would like to participate in the activities and if so, what your preferences are.
You will also be asked about any physiotherapy needs you have. A Physiotherapist will offer to carry out an assessment of your individual requirements. This involves the Physiotherapist asking questions about your symptoms and examining your joints, muscles and functional ability. You may be asked to remove some clothing so that she can examine how you move. Your privacy and dignity will always be respected.
After this examination your Physiotherapist will explain what they have found and the treatment they recommend. You will be able to ask any questions and will be involved in the decisions about treatment goals, techniques, possible benefits and risks.
your choice
You are entitled to decline treatment at any stage without prejudicing any future care. Confidential treatment notes will be started at the first treatment session and will be kept securely as a record of your treatment. They will be accessed only by staff involved in your treatment. If you are unhappy about any aspects of your care please discuss this with the therapy team leader or matron.
Our aim is to provide an excellent and holistic therapy service and we would welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.
The Lynwood Physiotherapy Clinic is also available for private appointments to assess and treat relatives, staff and visitors.
