Legacies

Including a legacy to BEN in your will is a priceless gift that enables us to secure the future of those facing hardship or distress. Legacies are an important source of funding for BEN and there may also be a benefit for you. Many people choose to leave a legacy as the charity benefits and it is an effective way of avoiding inheritance tax being levied on their estate. This then spares the heirs from the financial headache this can create.

No matter how large or small, your legacy could make a real difference.

  • Just £500 could pay for new therapy and rehabilitation equipment for disabled users in one of BEN's centres.
  • £750 could help to pay for a specially adapted tricycle for a disabled child.
  • £1,500 could purchase a stand-aid hoist to help patients move from their bed to a wheelchair in a dignified and safe manner.

£10,000 covers the cost of running a summer camp for children whose families we are supporting. During the summer of 2005 21 children were taken on a well-deserved activity holiday. All of these children had suffered recent bereavement, were caring for sick parents or have a condition of their own to cope with. No matter what their reason for being invited, all went home refreshed and more confident.

If you are considering leaving us a legacy in your will, you can rest assured we will ensure it is used to benefit those most in need. Leaving a legacy is fairly straightforward and can be done in consultation with your solicitor, when either making your will or by simply adding to your existing document. Download our legacy pack to help guide you through the process. If you have any questions or comments we are more than happy to hear from you, and would be delighted to hear of your bequest you have included.
