Town Thorns

Town Thorns was purpose built and opened in 1991. It embodies all the experience BEN has gained in operating sheltered housing, residential care and nursing. This state-of-the-art centre is situated in its own extensive grounds in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside between Coventry and Rugby. Although set in idyllic rural surroundings, it is within easy access of the Midlands motorway network and mainline railways.

For active older people who can look after themselves there are 27 self-contained flats. Each comprises a living room, bedroom, bathroom, hall and fully fitted kitchen. These flats incorporate all the latest design features to help maintain an independent way of life, including:

• An alarm call system
• Economy electric heating (individually controlled)
• Double glazing and cavity wall insulation
• Fitted kitchen with electric hob and oven unit
• Coloured bathroom suite
• TV aerial socket and telephone point

BEN is operating a flexible tenure scheme which allows retired people to rent (as assured tenants) or buy/part rent their homes under the terms of a 99-year lease.

For those who require full nursing, Town Thorns offers care for 20 residents in single rooms. Residents and their families can be sure they are receiving the best support and attention possible.

Town Thorns has a young persons disabled unit which offers care and support to 13 residents, greatly varying the age of people here, showing the true diversity of the centre.

Town Thorns is lucky enough to have a purpose-built hydrotherapy pool where our trained staff help residents experience a different kind of treatment for mobility. It is also a great form of exercise.

The hairdressing salon is always a hive of activity. Open five days a week, it offers a vital service for those who enjoy pampering and may not be able to get out.

Town Thorns is situated between Coventry and Rugby, and the 25 acres of beautiful, well-maintained grounds offer a delightfully peaceful and rural setting for all to enjoy.

The calm atmosphere of Town Thorns' chapel is a place of relaxation even for those with out spiritual needs. It holds regular services and is enhanced by a beautiful stained glass plaque.

Town Thorns' shop is a convenient and therapeutic activity which residents are encouraged to take advantage of.
