Birch Hill

Birch Hill is BEN's smallest residential centre and for more than 30 years has been renowned for its intimate, homely atmosphere. It is situated in Norham, a delightful village on the banks of the River Tweed, just seven miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed. Although small, it is a lively village in the heart of the Borders countryside with the magnificent Northumberland coastline only a short trip away. The Centre also has its own minibus so trips to local attractions and shopping centres are a frequent activity.

The main house at Birch Hill offers 26 residential rooms which are all beautifully decorated, cosy and inviting. Residents are free to furnish their room with their own belongings if they wish.

There are eight self-contained sheltered bungalows available with two bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, bathroom and living room, which overlook the beautifully maintained grounds. All the bungalows are well appointed and have a call system linked to the main house, so they provide the highest standard of independent living with the peace of mind of a support network nearby.

Birch Hill benefits from a cosy conservatory where residents can sit and appreciate the outdoor surroundings while remaining warm. It's a very popular spot for residents to meet and while away a few hours with a cup of tea and a good natter.

Residents can enjoy a daily programme of get-togethers, games, puzzles, arts and crafts, ensuring a busy social life, and catch up on the day's news and events. Birch Hill offers residents the familiarity they may need. The hair dressing facility is here so those who can't get out can enjoy the luxury of being pampered.

The dining room at Birch Hill is a truly social centre, where residents enjoy freshly cooked food and friendly chatter with the staff and other residents. There is a large, comfortable and bright lounge, where residents can come to relax and socialise with friends and visitors. The upright piano also offers hours of entertainment.

The Centre sits in beautifully manicured grounds, and with formal lawns and a rose garden, it's the perfect place for residents to take a stroll and relax.
