Robin Woolcock has spent his entire career in the UK automotive industry, commencing in 1969 as a graduate trainee with Ford Motor Co.
In 1978 he joined Leyland Truck and Bus, becoming UK Sales Director before joining the Volkswagen Group in 1988. He is particularly proud of being responsible for the 'relaunch' of the Skoda brand in 2002 and then from 2004, the emergence of the VW from a niche to a mainstream brand.
He was Managing Director of Volkswagen Group UK, covering all 5 brands, from 2000 to September 2011 when he became a Special Advisor to Volkswagen AG, the HQ in Germany. The Group now supplies 1 in 5 of all cars sold in the UK.
Robin is a Vice President of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Robin was invited to become a Trustee in 2005 and has applied his interest in Marketing, 'you can blame me for the BEN green', and now to the Lynwood Village Development.
