As a graduate of Leicester University (BA), Mike joined Ford Motor Company as a Graduate Trainee, and rose to the first level of Management. In 1969, Mike joined PSA Peugeot (then known as Rootes) where he progressed to Industrial Relations Director and finally Personnel Director, a post he held for 20 years. He was also a member of the UK Board and Chairman of 4 Pension Plans. Whilst at PSA Peugeot, Mike was instrumental in introducing Payroll Giving (Peugeot were the first manufacturer to do so), and was greatly involved in establishing Arthur Wilson House, BEN's Workplace Day Centre in Coventry.
A lifelong supporter of BEN, Mike was inspired when he first visited Lynwood and was immensely impressed by the atmosphere and outstanding care on offer, so much so he took his Senior Trade Colleagues to Alexandra House in Southport, and they were all hooked! Mike is a Life Governor of BEN, Vice Chairman of the Welfare Committee, a member of BEN's Board of Trustees and he serves on the Nominations and Remuneration Sub-committees. In addition, he is a trustee of the BEN Pension Scheme.
Mike is also Chairman of West Midlands Investors in People, Pro-Chancellor Coventry University and Member of their Human Resources Committee (Former Chairman of the Human Resources Committee and Governor for 8 years), Trustee and Director of Coventry Sports Trust, Chairman and Trustee of Coventry Building Society Charitable Trust, Trustee of Dunchurch Sportsfield and Village Hall, Committee Member of Dunchurch Festival group and Director of The Festival Players and one of the Founder members Stage Manager of Dunchurch Pantomaniacs for 21 years.
