Charles joined the British Police Service in 1979, spending twenty years in public service specialising in the protection of Royalty and VIPs as a member of the Special Escort Group and Firearms Operations. He went on to work in the automotive industry, gaining experience in the not-for-profit, private and public sectors. Before joining BEN, he specialised in Driver and Fleet Management and Safety for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
Charles has been heavily involved in directing and developing BEN's Fundraising and Communications Strategy since joining BEN in early 2007. As part of the Executive Management Team, he contributes to the planning and implementation of BEN's business strategy.
Charles describes himself as a sporty family man, with a keen interest in running, personal physical fitness and developing his skills as a photographer.
