Mrs Sefton

How BEN helpedMrs Sephton's story:

Mrs Sephton lives in the West Midlands with her husband and son. During her 8 years in the industry she worked as a driver for a variety of car sales and component manufacturing companies.

Why the Sephton's came to BEN:

Mrs Sephton suffers from Huntington's disease - a condition that causes damage to the nerve cells in the brain. The symptoms of this and the progression of Mrs Sephton's disease means she has suffered some severe falls. For Mrs Sephton's safety a downstairs wet room and bedroom were needed; a project that had substantial cost. After a grant from the local authorities and their having putting their entire savings into the development, there was still a shortfall.

Mr Sephton and his son care for Mrs Sephton as well as assisting her disabled mother and brother who also has Huntington's Disease - Mr Sephton does all of this while holding down a full time job.

How BEN helped:

BEN helped the Sephtons with a grant of £1000 towards the cost of the build. BEN also contacted another charity on their behalf and was able to secure an extra £1000 donation.

Result:

The donation from BEN resulted in the installation of Mrs Sephton's downstairs bedroom and wet room and this has made the family's life a lot simpler.
