Dev* is a Roadside Assistance Patrolman and is wife Kulwinder is a homemaker. In 2006 she became very poorly and no one could find out what was wrong with her. They were back and forth to the hospital all the time, and life became very difficult. So they turned to BEN for help.

Dev began to get extremely distressed and in the end, depression forced him to take more time out of work. He had not been with the company long and did not have huge sick pay entitlement.

BEN's welfare officer arranged for them to have a regular visitor and for a disability living allowance application to be made. A couple of months later Kulwinder was diagnosed with cancer. At the same time their heating broke down and they had used all of their savings on living on a reduced income. BEN was able to help by paying for their boiler to be fixed.

Dev enjoys his phone calls and visits from his volunteer visitor and feels that he has someone to lean on.
