Peter joined BEN as Head of Business Development in June 2011, having been a long term supporter of the charity.
After 10 years in retail banking he has had over 30 years in the Motor Industry specialising in retail and wholesale finance. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) and also a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry (FIMI). During his career he worked for two of the largest finance providers, namely Lombard and Capital Bank. He headed Lombard's joint ventures with Jaguar and then PSA , during which time he had his first visit to Lynwood where he saw first-hand the great work carried out by BEN. He held a number of senior positions with Capital Bank including Deputy Managing Director, with responsibilities including National Dealer Accounts, Manufacturer Relationships and the Leisure markets. He also served on the board of Lex Vehicle Leasing Holdings, International Motors Finance, Renault Financial Services and Inchcape Financial Services. During his time with Capital Bank he chaired the FLA Motor Committee for 2 years and served on the board for 7 years. He also has his own consultancy business, Finance Torque.
Married with 4 children, Peter grew up in Leicestershire and now lives in Sutton Coldfield. Outside the family his interests are largely sport related, with rugby (Leicester Tigers), cricket, golf and football among the list - he just wished his own sporting enthusiasm could have been matched by more ability! He also has a keen interest in cars, so a career in the motor industry has been a chance to also indulge his passion. He loves classic British cars and had a Triumph TR6 up to recently, but owning a Jaguar XK150 would be the ultimate.
He feels so lucky to have enjoyed such a happy and successful time in the industry where he has made so many long term friends and contacts, "it's a fantastic sector which has managed to emerge from so many challenges the stronger, and has a great ability to adapt and improve thanks to the skills of its people". Peter has always encouraged his own teams to support and embrace BEN, so he is now delighted to have the opportunity to help spread the word to all parts of the industry so that BEN can continue to care and support those individuals and families who need us.
