Tony Sackett has worked in the automotive industry for over 35 years. His career started on the shop floor with Arnold G Wilson Ltd in Leeds on a sponsored apprenticeship from British Leyland. Progressing through Motorist Discount Centres and Partco he became Managing Director of Woodhead RSR in 1994 and then went on to manage Serck Marston and Woodhead RSR with responsibility for Commercial Vehicle and Heat Exchange manufacturing & distribution in the UK, Mainland Europe, Middle East & North America. He then spent time as the Sales & Operations Director for Unipart Automotive.
He is currently the Managing Director of Unipart Commercial Vehicle, which provides a full range of parts and industry leading solutions to the Commercial Vehicle aftermarket.
A Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry, Tony is a past President of the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) and was instrumental in the introduction of the BEN charity cheque presentations at the IAAF Annual Dinner. Tony was also past Chairman of the Automotive Distribution Federation (ADF) Commercial Vehicle Section.
Tony has also served the industry as a Director of the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT) and as a member of the SMMT Aftermarket Committee.
On seeing the first class care provided to industry colleagues at BEN's nursing and residential centres, Tony became committed to championing BEN's cause. He was first appointed to BEN's Board of Trustees in 2005, and was reappointed in September 2007 and again in 2009; Tony now holds the role of Deputy President at BEN and is a member of the Audit Committee.
